Thx Ivan great job mate! Made my night!
wats brian stann song called when he comes out
Steve I’m 72 years old and I been waiting for someone to wip Ryan but each of his 6 prior fights, nothing personal just his attitude and when you walked into that cage that night something told me this is the night that Steve feeds Ryan crow and man did
you ever….That guy went down like it was my birthday.
Many thanks Steve!
Eddy
Sorry for the Ryan instead of BRYAN……darn it! A couple of “Senior moments” or are
they McCain moments???
you’re a dumbass
I see that you (bill) are mentally challenged and might not make it to 72.
Ok,
So it’s been a while since I posted on Ronin5. Ivan, my appologies for being gone so long, I know all of you missed my diatribes so much. (*cough*bs*cough)
Steve Cantwell had an impressive showing in the ring, Frank Mir was correct as was Brian Stann himself in his judgment of how the fight played out. This was not the same fight we saw last time when Brian rocked Steve like a paper ragdoll. Steve obviously did a lot of homework going into the fight, and was aware of Brian’s lack of versatility. Stann has been so dominant with the power of his punches in the previous fights that no one had figured out how to exploit it. Once Steve starting slipping Brian’s punches comming over the top and countering, and keeping Brian off balance with his kicks and body punches Brian didn’t ever really seem to have an answer.
Personally, I was pretty impressed with how well Brian took the loss. Any questions as to the nature of his attitude should be put to rest with his comments there. I do not doubt that the third fight between these two guys will be very action packed. Brian looked hungry for a rematch less than two minutes after the fight was done.
As Brian himself said, “This is going to be the best thing that could happen to me.” It seems like it put a fire in his stomach to shore up and branch out from what up to this point had been a pretty one dimensional offense.
In the humble opinion of this author, I think Brian would do very well by hooking up with a Mui Thai instructor. Brian is already an excellent boxer, but by mixing his strikes into the Mui Thai paradigm of knees/elbows etc from a clinch as well as switching from lower to upper body strikes, he would have the tools to counter an offense like Steve Cantwell showed him tonight, plus it would have the added benefit of being a natural fit for his physic and already developed muscle memory.
Will Brian’s hunger to develop himself as a fighter be enough to put the belt back around his waist? Only time will tell…
Morgan, a pleasure reading your commentary on the sport and these two particular fighters. Another pleasure was that it wasn’t the three word wonder who must have stayed up all night composing that extensive oration.
Again Morgan, thank you for your excellent comment.
Morgan always contributes great analysis. He’s the Joe Rogan of Ronin5.
There’s been talk of moving the bigger WEC fighters to UFC. I’ve always thought Brian Stann would be one of them. But based on his performance, I don’t think these guys are ready yet.
