Miguel Angel Torres (34-1) def. Yoshihiro Maeda (23-5-2) to retain the WEC bantamweight title. The doctor recommended a stoppage at the end of the third round, as Maeda’s right eye was swollen shut. Torres found his range in the third round connecting with numerous punches to damage the eye.
Best fight of the night! Torres looked like he’s going to ripped out Maeda’s heart in the beginning.
Miguel dominated the fight consistently…Maeda gave a good fight, but showed to be no match for Miguel. If the fight would not have been stopped when it was, Maeda would have been in deep deep trouble risking a very nasty KO. Very good fight and very entertaining as usual when Miguel is on!
The Urijah Faber vs. Jens Pulver fight was awesome but I agree that Miguel Angel Torres vs. Yoshiro Maeda ws the fight of the night. Torres proved once again why he is the champ. Maeda was a very impressive skilled fighter who brought out the best in Miguel Angel Torres.
