UFC 90 Video - Anderson Silva vs Patrick Cote Video Clip

Post Fight Interview

Recap
Patrick Cote (13-5 MMA, 4-5 UFC) lasted longer than any other challenger, but UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva (23-4 MMA, 8-0 UFC) scored his eighth consecutive UFC victory and fourth straight title defense — but not in the manner he wanted. After forcing the UFC 90 main event into a third round, Cote dropped to the mat and was unable to continue after injuring his knee 39 seconds into the round. It was an unfortunate and bizarre ending to Saturday’s “UFC 90: Silva vs. Cote” event, which took place at a sold-out Allstate Arena in Rosemont near Chicago in the UFC’s first-ever trip to Illinois.

this guy (cote) deserves alot of respect, even though he was losing up until this point, he still did great, and silva’s been rated number one in the world for his weight class, so we should take that into consideration, who knows, another round or two, maybe cote would have won, anyone can knock anyone out…..

  2. 2 MR lexxx

yea but do you think he deserves a rematch?

  3. 3 Travis Napier

Good showing for Cote, but where was Silva? It seemed like he was trying to let Cote dictate the pace. That was not the same aggressive Silva that has been labeled the pound for pound greatest. I think Silva knew that he completely outclassed his opponent so he took the night off so the fans could actually see a fight…

I now have respect for Cote. I didn’t know about him yet, until this fight…as far as how he is as a fighter. Then I found out he’s gonna fight the best pound for pound fighter in MMA. Wow. I have to say, besides GSP…this French Canadian is a great fighter and makes me stop joking about Canada. Ha Ha Ha. But in all truth…great fight. Unfortunate incident. I know how that is. I’ve blown out my right ACL and it is NOT fun. You cannot move. Good luck on the rematch. Respect.

first of all it was the back leg that he hurt and it had very little weight on it at the time of injury so id say he faked it of course…..it wasnt twisted or anything, secondly silva was obviously not taking him serious otherwise this wouldve been over in the first round…..quebecors dont wanna work anywhere even in ufc :)

  6. 6 Dennis

I think it’s time for Silva vs Bisping…There is no one else left to challenge Silva…

  7. 7 Justin

Bob your an idiot. Theres professinal Paramedics there, he didnt fake anything. People think silva wasent taking him serius, but thats not true, silva knew patrick’s defense was so tight. So what if hes from Quebec?, great fighthers come from there look at GSP, one of the best well rounded fighters in the game. Next time watch your mouth…..noob

  8. 8 Travis Napier

For the people that think cote belonged in the cage with Silva you need to brush up on your mma history.. Remember when Cote was mopped up by Tito Ortiz? Tito doesn’t even belong in the same category as Silva. Silva was literally running around the ring, and you think he was taking Cote seriously?!Sure, Cote was on his game but to Silva, that’s all it was, A GAME. They will put a rematch on just because the ratings, and it will be another Silva vs. Leben. Cote is good when facing okay opponents. The only person that would stand a chance in a rematch vs. silva would be Dan Henderson.. That’s I fight I want to see…. Cote should be in the WEC or somewhere else… He’s no GSP…

i think wandy or shogun in their top shape are much better tah a.silva. If only fedor could fought in middleweight …someone need to take him down. He is show-off fighter =p

  10. 10 joshy crispy

The pussy faked the injury because he knew Anderson was about to uleash some beating. Totally faked it cuz he was scared.

  11. 11 BigCat

I think Anderson is just plain bored. Where does he go from here? Light Heavyweight? Catch weight with GSP? I don’t think the 205# class has anyone for him either. I don’t believe Cote faked the injury though, alittle far fetched. The fight was just plain boring and Anderson, although he was bored with it, has a responsibility to put on a show. If your the best there is Silva, step in and get it over with, get paid and wait for the next payday…

  12. 12 wickedsoul

cote got lucky, Spider wasnt on top of his game… he took it easy on the kid…

  13. 13 MMA

COTE SHOWED UP..BUT COULD DO ANYTHING AT ALL HE SEEMED LOST FROM WHAT SILVA WAS DOING..BUT BEFORE BISPING OR COTE GET A SHOT I BELIEVE THEM TWO SHOULD FIGHT EACH OTHER..AND FOR SILVA MALBE HE SHOULD SEE WHAT HUGE FIGHTS HE CAN GET AT 205

  14. 14 MMA

BOB YOU SAYING SOME STUPID SHIT YOU HATER..HE HURT HIS KNEE IN THE SECOND ROUND AND REALLY HURT IT IN THE THIRD..SILVA IS THE MAN HE DOES NOT PLAY AROUND AND HE RESPECTS EVERYONE HE FIGHTS..HE KNEW COTE HAS HEAVY HANDS..HE WAS FEELING HIM OUT AND SEEING WHAT HE NEEDED TO DO TO FINISH HIM..

  15. 15 joshy crispy

He was faking it. Look at the replay aint nothing got broke.

  16. 16 Morgan`

Anderson Silva, “I did not come here to play.”

Anderson Silva, “I take all of my opponents seriously.”

Anderson Silva, “I did not become the champion by NOT doing my job. I come to every fight to do my job and I hope everyone, and all of the other fighters understand that.”

I think, Anderson can speak for himself. Any arguement to the contrary can be taken up with him in the Octagon.

That Anderson Silva was not as aggressive as you would have liked, or gentlemanly decided to help another fighter up off the mat, are measures of Anderson Silva’s character and strategic gameplan. Anderson has always been both a gentlemanly and methodical fighter. That he haappens to have laser sharp accuracy and deadly power diminishes neither of these aformentioned characteristics at all.

Simply because he did not finish Cote off on his own is not an indication that Anderson was toying with him or that Anderson was taking the night off. To say otherwise is a diss on both Cote, and Anderson. I believe one must take Anderson at his word when he said he was neither playing nor failing to take Cote seriously. Anderson took Cote seriously. Anderson was not playing. He was being consistantly methodical in breaking down his opponents style and gameplan. That Cote’s knee gave out before Silva was able to knock him out on his own is simply a freak accident. (and by the way, I am not saying that Silva WOULD have knocked Cote out. Merely that he intended to, and was working toward that as a finale.)

I don’t know how many times I need to say it but you freaking conspiracy theorists need to put a stopper in the bottle, and shut up.

  17. 17 clayton

100% agree with Morgan. I actually cant believe that people think Cote would take a dive. You can see exactly where he hurt his knee in the 2nd. Have you ever see him do this in any other fights he was going to loose? NO. Then again you’d probably think any fighter with a similar injury in a match is faking it. It happens, there all athletes, and sometimes athletes get injured. Its his JOB to fight, this is what he does for a living, he likes to fight and get hit, and obviously likes to win. Did you not see how much respect the two fighters had for each other. He would never fake it due to the shear respect he has for Silva, and wanting to give a good fight to the world.

  18. 18 Cory

Patrick Cote sucks cock. He’s a fucking pile of shit. He should be in the WEC. It’s not like anybody gives a fuck about him. All he’s known for is changing his nick name a few times. He’s just a bitch.

  19. 19 joshy crispy

Patrick “The Faker” Cote. The bitch faked the injury.

  20. 20 Rick

I just finish watching this fight and im so dissapointed in all the hype, about Anderson show booting and how he disrespected Cote. Let me be the first to say I think it was a decent slow paced fight and at no point in this fight was Anderson remotely beeing out classed. If all these people that are talking and creating this drama about this fight had seen that Patrick Cote clearly injured he knee in the second round and until then and after that Anderson was just waiting his oppurtunity to strike and end this fight in his normal fashion then maybe this they would have something to talk about. He truly is and will be for some time the most versatile and dominate fighter in the middle wight division. All the know it all’s just think he has to end and destroy all opponents in the first round. I see this as maybe he was giving some respect to Cote for his striking and his style so Anderson was trying to distract and allure him in to his fight game plan. ( Now does this mean he was show booting?) Absolutely not and who ever is saying that dosen’t know much about him or this sport. As far as the helping hand I do see how you could think of this as disrespectful but if you watched closely you can see that Herb dean made it clear he was standing him up. So If you going to talk or speculate on this or any other fights maybe you should pay attention to details and dont read into things as far fetched as “Dancing around”…

  21. 21 Stephane

What does London, Canada or USA has to do with the talent of a MMA fighter? Those kind of comments only come from retarded americans.Fighters come from all over…you love your sport? Respect the figters. How can someone love this sport and say that the guy was faking it……yeah sure..Dana White risks the whole show with someone he doesn’t respect and could be faking….Some people you just can’t understand if they take time to think before talking.
    Kids, go studying.

  22. 22 Jason Miller

Cote definitely faked it, ever see a soccer player fake an injury? This guy deserves a grammy for all the crawling around he does after. Silva definitely thought it was faked, as soon as Cote fell Silva just walked away in disgust. The biggest telltale sign though, Cotes massive grin when the announcer says that the fight has been called to a stop.

  23. 23 Jay

Napier you are an idiot and barelly deserve a response too, the mopping up Tito did of Cote, did you even watch that fight. Tito won a close decision and Cote even dropped him in the first which by the way Cote had a week to train for that fight and even went up in weight class. And faking an injury, are you friggin kidding what moron trains their entire life to get in a title fight, goes into the 3rd round and then fakes an injury. And as for Silva dancing around for 3 rounds, that was probally the ultimate respect, if he thought he was gonna knock Cote out he would have don it a while ago, any fighter who doesnt take his opponent seriously including Silva is eventually gonna end up looking up at the lights wondering what happened.

  24. 24 Travis Napier

Who is cote? Has he beat anyone to even have deserved fighting in a title shot against Silva? The only reason he was given a shot is because Silva mopped up every one of the actual contenders. Jay, name a single contender that cote has beaten, or even fought. But, I do agree that he didn’t fake the injury. I never said he did. But I did say that Silva could have ended that fight as early as he wanted to, and I’ll stick by that…Cote getting to fight in that fight was just as lucky as Lesnar being able to fight for the heavyweight title after only 3 fights.. A rematch is probably in the works, but I bet Cote even loses the warm up fight if they give him any top 10 contender…
