UFC 84: Wanderlei Silva vs Keith Jardine Video Clip

Analysis
Those who thought the “Axe Murderer” was on the downside of his career counted him out too soon. Silva displayed the ferocity that made him a worldwide fan favorite during his long reign as PRIDE 205-lb. champion. He knocked Jardine down twice and threw 12 consecutive punches before referee Steve Mazzagatti called a halt to the match. Jardine was down on the mat receiving medical attention for about three minutes after the match before he got up and left the octagon under his own power.

That`s Wand I`ve loved to watch!!!

  2. 2 \/ ! /\/

Kieth Jarie got kocked the fuck out

  3. 3 fedor

Wand is come back for real ……………..

  4. 4 Mr. Joshua

Bad stoppage. Jardine was so stunned about the early stoppage that he just layed there in shock and thought about the early stoppage.

  5. 5 Ivan Bueno

Mr. Joshua, I disagree. It was a good stoppage. After a couple of solid hits on the ground, Jardine was no longer covering up or scrambling to pull guard. Several more solid punches from Wanderlei is unnecessary and dangerous.

  6. 6 GoWandy

Im pretty sure Josh was only being sarcastic Bueno haha

  7. 7 FireD

Great fight, looks like Wand got his blood-like instincts back. Let us hope that this continues and hopefully he’ll have his rematch against Chuck and put him to the ground!

  8. 8 justin

i luv silva……..1 of of my fav fighters..i think a rematch with chuck should be done….but im rooting for chuck

  9. 9 Kelley

that was tight. Wanderlei proves here that he is no one to mess with. He needs to get his revenge on Chuck now.

I was at the fights live…

The entire arena errupted into pandamonium. Everyone was jumping out of their seats, screaming. I nearly fell over the guy in front of me.

Personally? I thought Wand fricking killed him. It doesn’t show it so well on camera, but like the last punch that Wand landed on Jardine, jolted Jardine’s legs out like he had been hit with a pair of shock paddles. Jardine’s legs were quivering…

  11. 11 Ivan Bueno

Wand’s initial punch that put Jardine down didn’t look impressive, but the barrage of punches that follow afterward are relentless. Wand’s killer instinct is off the chart.

Some say the fight is boring because it finished early, and less techniques were displayed. I say bullshit. Win or lose, Wand is always exciting to watch.

  12. 12 Morgan

Anyone who was in the arena that night would say that fight was awsome.

The electricity in the air at the ending of that fight, was rediculous, I don’t think it was even surpassed by when BJ knocked out Sherk, and there were SO MANY people there rooting for BJ it was sick.

Even with all of BJ’s fans there, the reaction to Wand’s knock out of Jardine was absolutely the “moment” of the night.

  13. 13 DjEz-Q

I like Wandei Hes that dude, a bad ass, Id like to see him fight for the belt or against Chuck Lidell Again, I think he would win thistime. As for BJ Penn thats my dude, I havent seen the fight yet but im sure it was the bomb just like all of his fights are, I like BJ cause he always inflict damage on all opponents and I have never even seen a scratch on his face, the dude is pretty bad, I would Love to see Anderson Silva fight BJ Penn if they could reach the same weight that would be aewsome

  14. 14 JroK

I strongly doubt that he can do that but your rite he should get his rematch that way he has no excuse he was scared, first time in the cage.

  15. 15 SonGohan

Wand is going to fuck up Chuck next time around. I’m betting on Wand, and you pussies might as well hand out your wallets to me!

I can’t put my finger on it exactly but Wanderlei has the most loyal fans and he also has something that makes us love him more than most fans love their favorite fighters. It’s probably a combination of admiration for his skill and ferocity (he’s plainly in it to fight) and his dedication and humility. This guy is the best or among the few best MMA fighters yet, unlike guys like Liddell, he’s humble. He has a big heart. He’s so confident in himself that not only does he not brag, his entire demeanor evidences true humility; that’s very rare among people as wealthy, famous and talented as he. He was unashamed to show his joy, elation and relief when he shed a few tears after his win over Jardine. To me, he’s a real man; someone to be admired not only for his talent but also his character. I suppose I shouldn’t have been but I was surprised to hear people saying stupid things like he was “washed up”. In case they hadn’t noticed, Wanderlei is considerably smaller than all of his opponents. He is really a middleweight who fights in the light-heavyweight division. Liddell, for example, walks around about 25 lbs. heavier than Wanderlei. He merely cuts weight so he can fight in the 205 and under class. Wanderlei had no business fighting CroCop, a true heavyweight. I’m not sure where he went wrong vs. Henderson but winning every fight is unlikely regardless of who you are. He beat Rampage twice and Rampage beat Hendo so go figure. He also beat Jardine who beat Liddell (though I thought unimpressively as Liddell was slacking re training for the fight and got gassed during it). When Wanderlei fought Liddell, he used a lame strategy; I doubt he would repeat the error. He reduced himself to the single-dimension in which Liddell fights—stand-up. Wanderlei fought as though he had no Muay Thai skills; I saw no knees, flying or otherwise. I believe he was somewhat awed by the spectacle; something to which Liddell has grown accustomed. If they fought again, I believe Wanderlei would win, despite his size disadvantage and regardless of the result of their last meeting. As an aside, I find it incredible that Liddell has been as successful as he has given that he uses on stand-up. If virtually any high-level pro-boxer (of same weight class) fought Liddell, I believe the boxer would win whereas, versus someone like Wanderlei who possess other skills, they would be in over their heads.

  17. 17 wesley

last line should have read: “…versus someone like Wanderlei who possesses other skills, they would be in over their heads.”

P.S. I thought the ‘bad stoppage’ comment was hilarious (of course, intentionally).

  18. 18 BackStop Big Top Drop

Listen here tonti people, that is how it is in the UFC you win some you lose some. You have good days and you have bad days. You win when your mind and your heart are 100%. Wanderlai had a lot too lose, and Jardine was way over confident from his chuck liddell victory. When your hungry, you are more determined.

  19. 19 Ivan Bueno

Backstop, I agree. Jardine has become way too confident of his Liddell knockout. That’s why he got knocked out by Houston Alexander and now Wanderlei Silva.

  20. 20 Nate

Great comments. I really appreciate the comments from the guys who were there. Incredible. I was with a few friends and we went insane when Wanderlei knocked him out.

All I could think of was the same thing Joe Rogan said: He’s back

I agree 100% with what Wesley said. The guy is all around incredible.

Example of something I liked: I remember one of his old interviews.. 3 years old maybe, evrything was translated. someone asked him what he liked to do. His answer: Reading. rofl rofl. The guy is just too awesome.

To this day, he has my favorite knockout of all time, in the fight vs Jackson where he lets him drop and Quinton goes out of the ring, spouting blood.

I also remember the day Sakuraba beat Royce GRacie and shocked the world. I was stunned. Then he went on to beat all the gracies put in front of him. Stunned, I wondered what was next.

Wanderlei obliterated Sakuraba, showing the world the next style in fighting. Shogun continued the style and now Anderson Silva continues to demonstrate in the UFC.

  21. 21 SonGohan

Fuck Jardine. I found him on Youtube dancing before the fight:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_1nzEFMjkI4

  22. 22 Sandro

Wanderlei only lost the first fight to Lindell because it was his debut on the UFC.Give him another 3 fights and he will be at home. After that Lindell won’t be man enough to fight him again.
As for the Gracies ,let give them credit for the creation of the UFC.I also believe Royce won his last fight agains Sakuraba.

  23. 23 patrickgamil

liddell had a more feared KO hand power and a great countering ability which worked well with wanderlei’s attacking. actually it wasn’t wandy’s most aggressive attacking against liddell, but maybe that was in part to the fact that liddell made him pay enough times. jardine kicked liddell so many times his footwork, hence liddell’s Ko power was neutralized. Wanderlei didn’t let jardine kick from a distance. thy are all so great….
i’d love to see any in rematches
    imagine
wand vs liddell 2 dont know if liddell could do avoid the onslaught and outstrike like that again
jardine vs liddell 2 don’t know if liddell would have an answer to those kicks
jardine vs wand 2 don’t know if wand would be so effective o quickly

  24. 24 Morgan

    Nate,

Upsets are what make MMA such a fascinating sport. Any man can win on any day, no matter how unstoppable of a fighter he faces. That is the one thing we have seen consistently through out the history of MMA as a sport. No one is invincible, and so there is always a constant appeal, a constant danger to anyone at the top. I know it sure is what keeps me on the edge of my seat when ever I watch a fight..! :D
    Sandro,

Credit where credit is due, The Gracies were pioneers of bare knuckle, no holds bared fighting in Vale Tudo, but they did not create the UFC.

Royce may have dominated the early years of the UFC because of the serious learning curve many of the martial artists faced in that type of competition, and he and the rest of the Gracies most defiantly left an indelible mark on the sport of Mixed Martial Arts as a whole, but they are not the be all and end all.

    Patrick,

I agree, a rematch between any one of those three fighters would provide mouth watering excitement to think about. Including a rematch between Jardine and Wand.
Not to take ANYTHING away from Wand’s victory, but Jardine never got a chance to really display anything he might bring to the table in a fight between the two of them because of getting caught by the first so early.

  25. 25 Sandro

    MORGAN :

Every true MMA fan knows that the gracies were the first in the world to held a competition without rules and to find who was the ultimate fighter more than 40 years ago in Brazil.Than Rorion Gracie came to america to spread the family fighting style (Gracie Jiu Jitsu ).To spread the style ,Rorion and Art Davie (advertising excecutive )came up with the Ultimate Fighting Championship wich was later renamed UFC 1.I believe they sold their rights to SEG after those republicans started demanding the end of the competition wich resulted in the creation of all the rules we have today .Later SEG sold it to Zuffa. That’s what Royce meant when he said ” This is my house ,I built it ”
CREDIT WHERE CREDIT IS DUE !

  26. 26 SonGohan

Sandro, the Gracies did start the UFC, but they didn’t start no-holds-barred competitions. The Greeks from thousands of years ago started mortal kombat competitions. In fact, based on the movie I saw, King Lionydas was the first welterweight champion. When Big John McCarthy said “Let’s Get It On”, King Lionydas shouted “THIS IS SPARTA!!!!!” and push-kicked Tank Abbott into the well. Man, I’m drunk on Bud Lite, the official beer of the ufc.

  27. 27 ultimate warrior

if wanderlei will have a rematch with chuck, i think he’ll get his ass kick once again!!!!

  28. 28 D-vo-19-

common ppl, the only thing silva displayed was a lucky punch on a glass jaw. nothing against him cause i do like him. Keith got lucky against chuck to make a name for himself…. chuck wasnt in top shape for keith and keith wasnt even close to being prepared for wanderlei. Im expecting keith wanting a rematch for this fight but he probably wont get one…. thata way keith, way to shoot your career right in the foot. haha.

  29. 29 rob

WHYYYYY does everyone wanna see a chuck and wand rematch.those are my 2 fav fighters both exciting and dangerous strikers and it would be a hell of a fight BUTTTT there both trying to get back on the winning road. chuck is way too good for the sport, and if wand is winning he is too.neither of them can afford a loss right now! dont put them up against eachother cause your just gonna kill off one of the fighters for good! i wanna see wanderlei vs thiago silva. and i wanna see chuck vs rampage 3.

  30. 30 Johnatan

Veiiii… pode vim esses gringo aí tudo, Wand quando está em forma bate mermU!!

    tem pra niguem!!

    hahaha

  31. 31 HoffManHalfAmazing

The Axe Murderer literally murdered Jardine. He was left in a retarded stupor on the mat after the fight. If any of you actually watched the match and have watched a match before, you would realize that Jardine goes limp while Silva has his hand around his neck and continues to get plowed in the face. Silva demolished him. Rest in Peices Jardine, the Axe Murderer is BACK!

  32. 32 Deano

There he is, looking forward to seeing him on top again

  33. 33 Max

Thats the Wandy I love to see fight, aggressive and brutal. As some have said before, hes a truly a middleweight, and even though he was fighting at 205 he seems way slimmer than when he was in pride.

  34. 34 TonyMaroni

Wandy is like a hungry beast. Very focused. I have to pick Wanderlei against Rampage, who I also love.

  35. 35 joshy crispy

Wandy is the only good whiteboy out there.

Personally, since we don’t know you directly you would be safer asking someone at the gym, someone that is a specialist in that area, or even someone you see that has really done it already, just to be safe…being a woman, you don’t want to hurt yourself, and not knowing your age, you don’t want to hurt something inside, that might make you not be able to have babies if you want one day or if you already have had them, okay, but, you get what I’m saying, you want to make it right and do it for what’s best for you…usually you can tell from your own body what is going on with it…but, personally I would suggest someone in person who actually sees you working out and knows what they are talking about, because you can get all kinds of advice on here but, they don’t see or know you personally and know you body or you limitations…plus you don’t want to get a hernia, yes women get hernias too..just be careful, and good luck.
