WEC 34: Urijah Faber vs. Jens Pulver Video Clip

Part 1

Part 2

Analysis
Urijah Faber (21-1) def. Jens Pulver (22-9-1) to retain the WEC featherweight title via unanimous decision. There was no specific moment in a fight that promised a lot and delivered even more. In a shootout, Faber had the higher caliber weapons, but he couldn’t put Pulver away. Both men were tested both in recovery ability and guts as each had to come back from being hurt in taking shots that would have finished most fighters. Faber, the hometown favorite, connected more in a five-round battle of punches, kicks, knees and takedowns.

EliteXC Primetime: Kimbo Slice vs. James Thompson Video Clip

Part 1

Part 2

Analysis
Kimbo came out victorious but sure showed he has a long way to go before he can be considered a real heavyweight threat. Kimbo struggled through much of the first round, getting put onto the mat several times, but demonstrated some skill in getting back to his feet. Kimbo wobbled Thompson with a couple uppercuts in the second, but later found himself on the wrong end of a series of elbows on the ground. In the third, Kimbo connected on a home run of a punch that cut Thompson open. Kimbo made his first punch of the third round count, a wild haymaker that opened a horrible cut on Thompson’s left ear. He then followed up with a punishing exchange. The crowd was not happy the fight was stopped, but Thompson was wobbling and was clearly a punch or two away from being put out.

Post-fight Interview

Brett Rogers tells Kimbo he saw him tap. Kimbo gets up and wants a fight. Big commotion on stage, in front of media. Way to go on prime time Elite XC.

WEC Light Heavyweight Champion Brian Stann Visits the Howard Stern Show (Video Clip)

Brian Stann is a Captain for the US Marines and fights for World Extreme Cagefighting. On March 26, 2008 Stann defeated Doug Marshall to become the WEC Light Heavyweight champion. With this victory, Stann’s MMA record reached 6-0, with five victories in the WEC.

Brian visited the Howard Stern Radio Show in New York to promote the upcoming WEC fight with Jenz Pulver and Urijah Faber. He also presented a prize to the winner of the contest Hottest Chick, Ugliest Scar.

Brian Stann came in to present Tiffany, the winner of Hottest Chick Ugliest Scar contest, with the $5,000 prize, and Howard asked him about his two tours of Iraq. Brian said Artie and Gary shouldn’t be concerned about their safety over there during their USO tour, as they’ll be kept far from danger: “The casualty rate is so far down now.” Howard wondered how Brian was able to pleasure himself when he was over there, so Brian explained that he would make arrangements for private moments away from other marines: “That’s the key.”

Brian told Howard about earning the Silver Star in Iraq and once knocking a fellow cagefighter out inside of 16 seconds, so Howard said he felt emasculated by the presence of a real man: “You are so much more of a man than I am. I’m going to go put on a little sundress, heels and a bra.” Brian then congratulated Tiffany on her prize and positive attitude, and Tiffany announced that she’d use the money for driving school.
