Great fight, bullshit decision! Debbie countered all the little “show” tactics of Sextons. What a shame….
Let me begin by saying I’m usually not one to complain about the scoring decisions of the judges.
But upon hearing the judges score cards I was pretty baffled myself.
30/27 …29/28…30/27??
For those of you reading this blog who AREN’T familiar with the way the bouts are scored, they are on a 10 point MUST system. So who ever a judge believes won the bout is give an automatic 10 points. The loser receiving a lesser amount based on how badly they lost the round.
For two of the three judges to have scored the bout 30/27, means that at least two of the judges saw Purcell losing EVERY round in the bout. That’s pretty tough to swallow after watching that fight on video.
Purcell did an excellent job countering Rosie’s attempts at an offense and it looked as if the punches she was landing did more damage. It’s interesting to note that most of Rosie’s punches were more of a distraction to allow her to clinch and try and take Purcell down to the ground. Which she was rarely able to do, and with little effect once she got her there.
Be that as it may, it was an excellent fight between the two ladies. The women’s competition on Elite XC seems to be developing into one of the major reasons a fight fan would want to watch their shows. The women’s division is the only division on XC right now that is consistantly giving the audience and the world exciting MMA. Saddly, most of the men’s divisions are so embroiled with various carnival like controversies that it makes it hard to even watch them other than for sure “Jerry Springer” enjoyment.
Bravo to both the ladies, and Showtime/EliteXC for bringing Women into the spotlight of the MMA world.
Morgan, I agree EliteXC has the best female roster in the US. I think it’s the key to their survival. Their men’s pool is very shallow. I wish they’d bring the top female Japanese fighters, including my favorite: Roxanne Modafferi.
That was BS. I had Purcell winning that fight easily. At the very least, Purcell won the 1st round and possibly the 3rd. There’s no way that Purcell lost all 3 rounds.
Were you watching the same fight? who got the take downs? Who imposed who’s will on her opponent? The fight happened on the ground and in the clinch, Rosi’s domain and that’s why she won, deservedly in my opinion. Not saying it wasn’t a close fight, but we have scoring systems to distinguish winners from losers in close fights.
Nice win Rosi
Moan moan mona you lot, your nothing but moaning gits, Rosie won that fight by miles. A true fighter…..Bet you wouldnt get in the ring with her!!!!!!!!! So shut up moaning.
